Why Do I Sense An Air Bubble Under Knee Cap?

It feels as though I have an air bubble under my knee cap. It is painful and at times non-weight bearing. This has been consistent for nearly 24 hours. Is there something I can do to help the air dispurse? I have tried heat and as much movement as I can stand. I got a little crack from applying heat, tried again and nothing.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It can happen when the tendons or ligaments snap over the bony structures in the knee, torn cartilage, or osteoarthritis. If you don't feel better after some days make MRI.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
