Why Does A Child Have A Prolonged Cough?

Hi, my daughter is 2 years old, she has a severe cough, especically at night, she ends up making a hissing sound. She has had this cough twice before in the past couple of months. She also had a little bit of diahrrea a few days ago. Please assist I am worried

Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
Severe cough during nights for a prolonged period suggests that he may be suffering from whooping cough.
Erythromycin is the drug of choice.
You may use along with antibiotic some bronchodilator like salbutamol 3 times daily.
For immediate relief you may use steroid in consultation with your doctor.
