Why Does My 14 Month Old Baby Cry Passing Stool?

Hi my 14month boy when poos cries , goes red , and is in pain and grasps hard , only lasts a minute or so but he does every time he poos which is a lot of times a day , the poo is never a solid , more like skidmarks , his bottom is red sore , this has only started since he had his 1year old jabs , before then his poos were solid and fine , he eats solids and fruit and has sma toddler milk in morning and before bed , we taken him to doctors , he was on lactulose soluction from doctor but didnt help him , he is teething ? but we dont know what to do anymore to help him , can you help ? many thanks , Haydn

Hi Haydn,
Welcome to Hcm,
If his stools are not hard, the only reason I think if his cry and discomfort is because of the redness over his anal opening and the soreness might be causing lot of pain. This redness can happen if you child is on diaper which causes rash or due to acidic irritation of stools also. Giving lactulose will surely help him. Along with that I would advice you to apply siloderm cream 3-4 times daily over the red area which will help in giving a soothing effect for him and also help in healing in the anal area. Continue rest diet as you are doing. Take care. Happy to clarify further doubts.
