Why Does Temporomandibular Joint Cause A Popping Sound?

I just experienced a popping sound at the back of my head, on the left side. i heard it and another person a meter apart from me so i think its pretty loud. Im having TMJ therapy this time. im 5'4", 100 lbs. i've just got out of fever but having some cough this time. thanks.

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
The popping sound could be because of the disc displacement in the jaw joint.
this can occur because of the excessive load on the joint that can occur secondary to the trauma to the jaw bone, malocclusion, stress, and bruxism(grinding teeth during sleep).
this can be diagnosed by taking a radiograph like TMJ views and MRI.
This can be treated with tablet piroxicam 20mg twice daily for first day and once daily for the next 6days. do not eat hard things and do not open your mouth too wide. You can give hot fomentation over the jaw joint region. If all these things does not work then you can go for joint lavage(orthocentesis) with saline, autologous blood.
