Age 86, female in ICU, has gained over 45 lbs in the past 28 days. The flesh on her arms have began to weep, with what I can only assume is excess saline fluid. She has been intubated for the same period and fed by IV as well. She under went an emergency cardiac double stent procedure. Post-op her Vitals- BP has maintained a constant 120-115 over 78-70 BP, No feve, Oxg 92-95%, Creatine Level 1.1 to 1. during the entire same time period. ICU staff has been loading her with 1-3 bags of saline daily. Other than post surgery, she has remained conscious, alert and pain free. she sleeps off an on during the day and night. She has had no coughing or breathing issues She has had no history of any other cardiac event in her entire life. This is the only the second time in her entire life she has been admitted to a hospital. 30 years ago she had a non-malignant breast tumor removed. Life time non drinker nor smoker. Prior to her initial admission 28 days ago she did pass out in while sitting in her chair, initially she was not responsive when we tried to wake her, paramedics were summoned, and arrived with-in 3 minutes, we live 3 houses from the local fire station. When the paramedics arrived She was awake, pain free and breathing without difficulty, they checked her vitals, put her on Nasal oxygen and transported her immediately to the hospital. The full service hospital is 6 minutes away. She was placed in the ER for 1 hour and moved from there directly to ICU intubated. 3 days later they Informed us she needed and angiogram, that test led to the insertion of 2 cardiac stents. Beside congestive heart failure, perhaps some heart muscle damage. Personally I think they are drowning her with too much saline. How and why has she gained 45 lbs. She has had a bladder stent the entire time and is passing plenty of clear urine. Why is the flesh on her arms weeping a clear liquid fluid to the point where the ICU staff has to change those arm dressings 3-6 times daily. I have already fired the 1st hospital appointed Internal Medicine Physician appointed to her. The second appointed physician is not real happy with me either, neither is the hospital management director. I have attempted to move my mother to a hospital where all of our family general and specialist work. This hospital advises me Medicare will not allow me to move her to another hospital. What do you think is going on?
