Why Is Cilacar 10 Advised To Be Taken At Night Before Sleeping?

For BP I am already taking Metalor 50 xr tablets 1 od plus 1 dytor 10 tablet, both in the morning. BP is now OK except that pulse rate is in the range of 55 to 60 whereas it used to be around 80. Now I have also been advised to take one tab CILACAR 10 at night before sleeping , what is it for?

Hi,

Metalor 50 contains Metoprolol which basically functions by decreasing the heart rate which in turn lowers the blood pressure. As you have mentioned your pulse rate is 55 to 60 after taking it, it is on the lower side. The normal pulse rate is between 60 to 90. That might be the reason you have been switched to Cilacar which contains Cilnidipine which is a is a medicine belonging to the calcium channel blocker group. This medicine relaxes the blood vessels and is used for the management of high blood pressure.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
