Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
PCOD is the cause of your irregular periods and delay in conceiving. It is due to a disorder - Insulin resistance. Obesity, inactivity and genetic factors are the main causes of Insulin Resistance. Ovacet contains Inositol which is believed to reduce Insulin Resistance. But there are no unequivocal evidence or studies regarding the same. A medicine which has been proven to reduce Insulin Resistance through many research studies is Metformin.
I have prescribed Metformin to many patients with PCOD and a good proportion of them responded to the same. There is no harm in combining the two and possibly it would work better, even though there are no studies. Metformin may have some minor gastrointestinal side effects but nothing serious normally.
Hope you will get better and be blessed with a baby.
