HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Coughing can occur for various reasons , one of the most common is an acute infection such as the
common cold. Though it is usually viral, bacterial infection can also occur.
At present , he is receiving antibiotics (
curam), medication to break up the mucus in his chest (kofarest) and steriods (
omnacortil). His doctor may want to ensure , since the coughing is worse on mornings and evenings , that he is not prone to
wheezing. In that case, he may need to temporarily use an inhalor (with an aerochamber).
If his nose is congested, it is possible that the secretions that are entering the back of his throat would be contributing to his coughing. In this case the use of a topical decongestant such as normal saline drops may help.
I hope this helps
