Why Is My Index Finger Swollen And Painful?
right index finger swallown and painful. I swim with no pain for a mile 6 days. I had cortizone shots around the knukle and relieved only temprorarily. redness a little, thinking of cortizone at the bottom of index bone. did blood work for RA came negative

only one finger swollen can not be RA.Is there any chance that you hurt your finger during swimming or any other work and may have not noticed it at that time. is this type of pain and swelling has occurred before also,I think you should apply diclofenenc gel and take NSAID like brufen or diclofenec for five days. I would forbid you from cortizone injection to frequently as it may cause skin wasting or tendon damage. It should be used a last option.
