Why Is My Infant Not Passing Stools Regularly After Having Iron Tablets?

I have a baby boy, three months old. Since last 6 days he hasnt passed stool. Before this also, he passed motion once in every three days. Also he is passing a lot of gas with foul smell and passing a lot of urine too. I have noticed this change after I have started giving him iron drops, suggested by his pediatrician. I am exclusively breast feeding him.
Please help!!!

Hai..first of all answering your question...yes, iron is known to cause constipation. Secondly... I ask you a simple question if whether your infant is a term or Preterm baby. Term babies are prescribed iron supplements only from 4 months of age. If the infant is a Preterm...yes iron is needed now too...I also urge you to continue exclusive breast feeding till 6 months of age as it's very very important & has nothing to do with constipation. Happy to help anytime. If you are happy with my reply, kindly rate it.
