Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Why Is My Son Experiencing Severe Hallucinations, Insomnia, And Distress Despite Being On High Doses Of Aptiom, Clobazam, And Seroquel?
My son is having serious hallucinations. He has had seizures. He was taking 2100 mg of aptiom and 40 mg clobazam. Now he is having hallucinations where is talking to my sister s family ALL DAY and then, he acts as if someone is hurting him....sometimes he cries from someone hurting him. They put him on seroguil 150 mg 2x/day. He is not even sleeping....talks most nights into complete exhaustion. I am at a loss
It seems that your son is suffering from LGS. This condition is really hard to treat. Besides, seizures, this condition also has other symptoms like mental retardation, delayed mild stones and slow mental development. Also this condition may have symptoms like psychosis as are present in your case. These symptoms of hallucinations etc. may resemble like in schizophrenia.
The drugs and dosage may vary in each case. These may have to be revised many a times in some of the cases by addition or omission of certain drugs as well as increasing or decreasing the dosage of some of the drugs. Hence, in your case, the dosage are to be re-evaluated or re-adjusted under guidance of his psychiatrist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
