Why Is There A Lot Of Anxiety And Increase In Heart Rate And Taking Medications For The High BP?

During the last few weeks, I have been feeling a lot of anxiety. My resting heartrate has gone up to about 105. I am a smoker, and have cut down to about 5 or 6 a day. Have high blood pressure which is controlled by Lisinopril/hydrochlorothiazide and Norvasc. My resting rate in the morning when I get up is in the 80's, but once up, goes up to the 100 range, and stays around that. 58 yrs. old. 6 ft. 212 lbs.

It is not a matter to be concerned . Heart rate increases due to anxiety, smoking and sympathetic over activity besides ACEI themselves can do so due to vasodilatation. BP should also be checked in different postures to rule out postural hypotension though diuretic is being taken apparently in small dose.which can cause tachycardia. However , if weight loss occurs with well preserved appetite . I suggest to rule out hyperthyroidism. Hypertension with tachycardia will respond better with addition of Beta- Blockers.

Welcome to HCM.
Heart rate always increases with anxiety.
Consult your treating doctor to add medicine to control the anxiety otherwise gradually it also affects your blood pressure.
Go for complete cardiac investigations to rule out any heart related condition.
If it persists even after anxiety medicine then change the molecule of blood pressure.
Some blood pressure medicine is also useful to control the heart rate with your blood pressure.
Keep in touch with your doctor.
