Why My Bowel Movement Has Increased With Whitish Mucous In Stool?

30, 5'4, 50kgs.hi. i notice that on a few occasion after i started with my anti tb medications { 2 months back}, there are whitish mucuos looking stuff in my stool, sometimes they are in small lumps. my stool color is dark red like the ones if you are taking iron supplement and i also noticed that i had increased bowel movement frequency and have constant feeling of bloatedness since the anti tb treatment/ is this just a side effect? i took kinds of meds during the first 2 months

Your having dark color stool mean your suffering from probably upper gastro intestinal tract bleeding secondary to may be peptic ulcer or gastritis.


For this complaint you have to consult your doctor and you may need upper gi endoscopy.

And mucous in stools may be due to secondary infection.

You need up gi scopy
Stool for occult blood
Stool for microscopy
Usg abdomen
Colonoscopy (to rule out ulcerative lesions).


Till that time take tab. Nexium 40mg before breakfast.

Tab. Metronidazole 400tid
Tab. Oflox 200bd.

If symptoms not improved consult your doctor.
