My resting pulse rate is always high anymore, even though my blood pressure is in the normal range (110-120/80). I am a white male, 60 y.o., 6 1 , 235 lbs. Have lost 14 lbs in last 60 days via exercise and diet, yet resting pulse remains high. Any thoughts? Discontinued alcohol usage 60 days ago. Have not used caffeine or tobacco for many years.
Hi, Thanks for asking your query to HCM! The normal range for Pulse is 60-90/min. So even upto 90, your pulse rate is under normal. There are several causes of having a high resting pulse. The common causes include Anaemia, Hyperthyroidism, Obesity, Alcohol, Tobacco, Caffeine, Heart failure, Arrythmias,Beri Beri, . I'd suggest you to undergo basic blood investigations to rule out anaemia and thyroid excess. Also, undergo an ECG to rule out heart conditions. Hope this solves your query. Feel free to ask for any doubts.
