Why Urinary Symptoms Reoccurring After Having Doxazosin For Blood Pressure And Enlarged Prostate?

I have been on 2 4mg tabs of Doxazosin a day for about 10 years now, both for blood pressure and enlarged prostate purposes. I have noticed many times that urinary symptoms reoccur after renewing a prescription, leading me to believe that the pills I have just received are not as potent or functional as the previous batch. Is this possible?

Urologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for query.
You have been taking Doxazosin for enlarged prostate since last 10 years and have noticed your symptoms to recur .

As the age advances the enlarged prostate also increases in size causing more obstruction to urine flow resulting into recurrence

The Doxazosin that you are taking relaxes smooth muscles in Prostate and bladder neck and help to improve urine flow but does not reduce the size of the prostate.

Please consult qualified urologist for revaluation and to change medicine or need for endoscopic surgery of TURP
