Hi. Apart from cardiac causes the following are the other causes of chest pain that also needs to be evaluated:

Broken or bruised ribs

Pleuritis or pleurisy

Pneumothorax

Shingles

Pneumonia

Pulmonary embolus

Angina

Heart attack (myocardial infarction)

Pericarditis

The aorta and aortic dissection

The esophagus and reflux esophagitis

Referred abdominal pain

Since your ecg was normal they might have asked you to visit the pain clinic to pinpoint the other cause.
