Will Levetiracetam Help To Reduce Grand Mal Due To Brain Tumor?
I had a tumor removed in Dec/ 1999 benign the size of a golf ball before it showed on the right side near the forehead no problems until about a year ago when they put me to sleep to do a heart cath double. when I started to wake up I had a gran mal the same thing happened last year when they put me to sleep to to do another heart test down my throat to check my heart again gran malls only when put to sleep. I have partial seizures maybe every two or three weeks. I am on Levetiracetam 1,000 MG twice a day
Your seizures are NOT DUE to the "brain tumor" in my opinion but rather either to the anesthetic or to some process in the process of the anesthetic being processed out of your body. Sometimes active metabolites can be left behind that can cause seizure activity. Your neurologist needs to work with your anesthesiologist and you need to be very active to make sure the last anesthesiologist is aware of how you've reacted to this particular agent in the past. They will change agents or your neurologist may choose to PROTECT you in some additional way just before surgeries in the future.
