Will A Therapeutic Massage Be Recommended Post Heart Attack?

a client has come in a made an appt for an upper back, neck and head massage, for tomorrow - 3 days ago she had a heart attack. In 20 years of doing therapeutic massage, this is the first time that I have that i have had a client present with such an acute condition. My question is - is it in my client's best interest to have a massage, and if so, should she be lying supine only? Thanks.

Hello, I think the term of heart attack is making you concerned. It depends that how the heart attack was treated, by medication or by stenting. In both the cases the patient is usually advised for mild to moderate exertion after 2-3 days. As physical exercise will aggravate the load on the heart so getting a massage or physiotherapy is best way to keep the muscles toned up.
Precautions: Client can lie on any position comfortable. If treated with medication, or by stenting and is on blood thinners - the pressure applied should be gentle as there is possibility of getting bruised easily.
