Will Ankle Stiffness And Bending Problems Heal Naturally After Lateral Malleolus Surgery?

Hi, i had a lateral malleolus surgery 8 weeks ago.. 8 weeks after the surgery, my swollen right ankle has finally subsided, but a problem appeared which is the medial malleolus seems to be sticking out a bit, from what i see it is just bigger than my left feet s medial malleolus.. also, i can t fully bend my ankle either up or down, it feels stiff especially when i bend it up.. if i take the degree of the bending ankle as 45 degree, then my right ankle could only bend 20 degree.. Is this normal? Will it heal naturally?? Do i need to do anything to make it normal? Thanks in advance :)

Hi
Welcome to healhcaremagic
After going through your query I concluded that you are having stiffness of your ankle. You got it after surgery for lateral malleolus. It is normal after surgery but it depends on exercises you do after surgery. You are advised to do mobilisation exercises of ankle and Physiotherpy. You will gain full range of motion but it depends on exercises. You can discuss your doctor about it. Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. You can also write to me directly on below link:
