Will Anus Swelling, Soreness And Pain Due To Surgery Subside?

Hi, my surgeon removed a small anal skin tag in office, used stitches. Anus is swollen, beyond sore, hardly walking w/o severe pain for 4 days now. Called office, said can be normal for all this pain. I looked in mirror, anus looks worse than original tag did. I'm scared and the pain is unreal. Is this normal? Will pain and swelling go down? Was sutures a good thing to use? I'm truly worried what will become of this will be worse than the actual small tag.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my surgical experience, there can be minor discomfort with pain and burning while passing stool. Severely painful swelling is not normal part of recovery.

There can be possible infection, boil or hematoma at the operated site. You must visit immediately ER (Emergency Room) for perfect evaluation and precise management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
