Will Applying Vaseline For Itching In Vagina After Recovering From Neuroblastoma Help?
my 6 year old daughter has been itching in her private area for a few months now. Over a month ago I took her to her pediatrician and she did not have a uti. The doctor said to stop letting her take baths and only take showers. She also said to put vaseline on her private area. My daughter has not gotten any better. A little history, but probably has nothing to do with this. My daughter had neuroblastoma at 7 months old. No chemo, the doctors were able to get her tumor out before it spread. My daughter also has times where she wakes up at night to throw up. This has been going on for about 6 months. I thought she was allergic to pomegranate but she started throwing up again the past month. Her oncologist says the throwing up has nothing to do with her having had neuroblastoma. Please advise.
I am so sorry that she has been going through so much. I hope I can help you help her get some relief. I agree with the oncologist that the neuroblastoma is most likely not related to the throwing up, and also probably not related to the itching. Itching at that age is usually due to hypersensitivity to some irritant, which is why the doctor recommended not taking baths. I would suggest that even in the shower she should only rinse that area with water and not use soap. Although it is rare to have yeast at that age, I don;t think it would harm to use some vaginal yeast medicine, a cream like monistat for a few days, and then also use hydrocortisone for a few days which should help the itching. This should solve her problem. However, if it persists after that, she should be seen by a dermatologist, as she may require a prescription medicine for it., I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any more questions.
