Will Eating Of Spicy Food Effect The Anti Rabies Vaccine?
Hi, doctor! I was bite by my dog and now during the period of taking vaccine. The doctor told me don t eat spicy food. But yesterday I ate a hamburger which is spicy by accident. I want to know whether it will make the vaccine failed. I m worried about that very much. Thank you !
There is no dietary restrictions following a dog bite or during the period of taking anti rabies vaccine and you can eat whatever you like to have. Avoiding spicy foods, non-vegetarian foods, garlic, onions etc following a dog bite or during the period of taking anti rabies vaccine is a social taboo and a misconception. There is no scientific explanation to explain the relationship between the pathogenesis of rabies and what we eat to the extent of my knowledge. You can eat everything. I would advise you to take anti rabies vaccines along with tetanus injection.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
