Will Fibro Patient Be Crippled Leading To Use Of Cane Or Wheelchair?

My question is to your knowledge has Fibro patients even been crippled and have to use a cane or wheelchair? I have had Fibro since 1989. I am 72 and I am not ready for that yet. I try to keep very active which is what one is suppose to do with Fibro. When I walk it feels as tho I have no core to support me. I begin to walk with my nose to the ground u might say. Can not hold anything in front of me to carry. I Had surgery in 2009 and the main question I asked the Dr. was, will I be able to walk better, and he said better than ever. I had arthritis in the lower back which I didn t know at the time of surgery. I am pinned, screws, and rods plus caged, had Stenosis. It effects me in the very lower pelvic area under which the surgery was done. If I put my hand back in that area and push in, it helps a little. I am no way ready for this to happen to me. I know some times we don t have a choice. I will keep fighting, I don t give up that easily. Thank u very much, Pat

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, routinely chronic fibromyalgia patients do not turn up into wheelchair bound status unless there are other reasons for the same as cerebral stroke or else. You are always welcome for any further doubts or queries regarding the same or other medical issues.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
