Will Fibroids Cause Problems With Pregnancy?

hello sir, I m now 40 years old & 3 weeks pregnant , there are two heterogeneous lesions in uterus , one measuring 0.7*0.7cm in anterior myometrium and another 3.2 * 1.9 cm in right lateral myometrium.Hypoechoic lesion measuring 2.1 * 1.5 cm in lateral myometrium.no endometrial distortion. Sir , Please can u suggest me whether these fibroids will cause problem to my pregnancy or these are normal.

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Usually fibroids can affect the pregnancy by different ways.
In your case, as fibroids are present in the myometrium and as there is no distortion of the endometrial cavity, there may not be any problem in growth of gestational sac.
But fibroids can grow in pregnancy and can lead to complications like red degeneration etc.
It may also make normal delivery difficult.
So, you have to continue the pregnancy with regular antenatal checkups and ultrasound examinations.
If any procedure is needed for fibroids, second trimester is better time to plan.
