Will Goind For OGD(gastroscopy) Test Necessary For Gastric Problem?

I am a male, 60 years of age with a history of excersion angina. I have undergone angiography and a block of 40 - 50% is detected. I am under medication, taking metosartan 50, angispan 2.5, roseday 5 mg, carvidon OD and clopilet a 150. I had gastric problem and stomach burning. I have seen a doctor and he advised pan 40 for 7 days and done sonography of abdomin. sonography results are all fine. is it necessary now to undergo an ogd

Hi. It is quite possible that the clopidogrel/plavix may be causing gastric upset. From my experience I think it is reasonable to continue the protonix and see if it helps. One possible option would be to increase protonix to 40 mg twice daily if you don't get relief from the daily dosage. If this does not help or you notice dark/bloody stools, then an upper endoscopy/EGD would be the next appropriate step, or perhaps discontinuing the plavix and substituting for low dose aspirin if you do not have a stent.
