Will Loose Motion With Blood Cause Any Harm To Baby During Pregnancy?
Hello Doctor,
I am 28 years old, and im 11 weeks pregnant, I suffer from severe morning sickness. I didnt pass motion for three days. Ten last night, i had constipation and severe stomac ache and then I passed loose watery stools. Today Im better but when I passed watery stools in the morning , it looked reddish like a little blood. Is my baby safe doctor?
If you are not getting dehydrated due to the loose motions, you should not be much worried about the harm to the baby. Too many loose motions may cause dehydration and then cause risk to your pregnancy. Therefore I advice you to take a glassful of boiled (and cooled if you want) water with oral rehydration powder dissolved in it to maintain your proper rehydration. If oral rehydration powder is not available, you may add a pinch of salt and a fistful of sugar in one litre of water to make a home made ORS. Since intermittently you are having hard stools also, they may have caused a mild scratching to the anal or rectal lining which may cause an appearance of mild tinge of blood in stools. You need not worry about it. You may consume a teaspoonful of cows ghee or butter which will help to keep the stools soft. Also, please try to rule out amoebic dysentery which can cause intermittent loose motions and constipation. Your obstetrician doctor will guide you better for the management in that case. At present there does not seem to be any danger to your baby. Relax - that will keep your baby more safe and will control your morning sickness easily.
