Will Pantoprazole Cause Swelling?

I was prescribed pantoprazole sodium 40 mgs once a day two weeks ago for stomach issues. The stomach issues have subsided, but my feet ankles and calves swell up every day like grapefruits and the skin is very hard. Can this medication cause fluid retention due to the sodium that may be causing this?

Hi
Thanks for the query to H C M.
Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitors .
Theoretically , marked acid inhibition should increase susceptibility for G I infection but clinically there is no such evidence .
I mention this thing so that you can understand very well that pantoprazole never develop any swelling , even due to sodium salt in it .
In your case swelling on feet may be due to other possibility .
So consult a primary care physician and get his opinion.
Good luck.
