Will Taking Jentodueto Cause Acidity?

I have been diagnosed with acid reflux causing a persistent cough with an inflamed larnyx. I thought it was seasonal allergies. I don t typically have heartburn . I have been dealing with this cough for months. The ent just scoped my throat and sinuses and has put me on Prilosec Rex strength and zanax . Coincidentally I have just started taking jentodueto this past January . New drug any possibility this could be causing by acid issue?

Hello,

Welcome to HCM and thanks for the query.

You have laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR). This is a nicknamed as silent reflux as there are no typical symptoms of reflux like heart burn. It manifests as sore throat and cough.
Jentadueto is a combination of linagliptin and metformin. Metformin is known to produce gastrointestinal discomfort. It might have contributed to your symptoms.
In addition to the medicines your doctor has prescribed, you should have a bland diet and avoid spices, aerated or caffeinated beverages, acidic foods like lime, lemon, tomato and preservatives. Also you should not lie down for two hours at least after food and drinks. You should also elevate the head end of your bed by at least 6 inches to reduce the acid reflux into the esophagus.
I notice that your doctor has not given a prokinetic medicine. if the present medicines and my previous suggestions do not bring complete relief, the same can be added.
Wish you good health.
