Hi,

Because of high risk of severe bleeding, abdominal cramps, infection or incomplete abortion it is not advisable to take these medications without consulting a gynecologist. The risk of bleeding will be much more if the pregnancy is outside the uterine cavity (ectopic pregnancy).

The doctor will advise you to take 200 mg of mifepristone orally this will work to separate placenta from its attachment, it also softens the cervix and increases uterine contractions to allow the uterine contents to pass. Then you will have to take 400 mcg misoprostol orally usually within 48 hours of taking mifepristone. It will to cause uterine contractions so that the products of conception are expelled. Cramping and bleeding often start 2 to 4 hours after you take the pills which can last for hours indicative of abortion. Abortion can be confirmed by doing an ultrasound.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
