Will Taking Clindamycin Before Root Canal Treatment Cause Any Allergic Reactions?
I have been taking clindamyacin for three days now to prepare a tooth for root canal So far I have had no side effects so far however I heard that you can have a reaction or a life threatening allergy to any drug at any time in during treatment This happened to me long ago when I took Amoxicillin for two weeks then broke out in hives that took weeks to disappear even after I stopped taking it Therefore I m weary that this might happen with the Clindamycin I figure if I was deathly allergic to this medication it would nt it be apparent by now??
You are right in saying that "you can have a reaction or a life threatening allergy to any drug at any time in during treatment" as evident by past history of allergic reaction to amoxicillin.
But in the case of clindamycin it is rare to have allergic reacton in middle of treatment. Even if this occur they are very mild reaction and almost never life threatening.
Having said this close observation of your symptom is better as other reaction and side effect generally occur during treatment only. Thanks
