Will Taking Tetralysal Affect Fetus If Pregnant?

I have been taking tetralysal and recently had unprotected sex (but did use the withdrawal method) I am concerned that if I did fall pregnant whilst on tetralysal, that the effects would be harmful to the baby. how long does it stay in your system and how does it effect a baby?

Hi,

1. It will take about 2 days before Tetralysal is eliminated from your system. For the healthy adults, the elimination half-life of Tetralysal is between 8 -10 hours. This is the time it takes for your body to reduce the plasma levels by half. It usually takes around 5.5 x elimination half-life (hours) before a drug is completely cleared from your system.

So if we take the maximum elimination half life of 10 hours, it would take 55 hours (5.5 x 10 hours) about over 2 days before the tetralysal is eliminated from your system.

2. If taken during pregnancy, Tetralysal can cross placenta and cause certain harmful effects like discolored enamel of the teeth and it may get deposited into the growing bones affecting their growth during early childhood.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
