Will Taking Thyroid Medicine Affect The Fetus?

my wife (age 32 Yrs/weight 60kgs) had just missed her period it was due on 13th july, her TSH level is 7.0 checked 2 days back, in the month of march it was in normal range, Doctor has suggested to increase the dose to maintain the TSH level (FT3 & FT4 are normal). Some are suggesting us to drop the pregnancy as it may affect to baby development. I need your openion, I want to continue the pregnancy.

Hello dear,I understand your concern.In my opinion you need not terminate pregnancy but you can take thyroid hormone supplement in the form of required dose and bring down the TSH to normal.Optimum TSH should be Best regards...Dr srilatha
