Will The Cold Go Away On It S Own?

Hi, I am a 54 year old woman with a cold that began 1 week ago. I have thick green phlegm, hoarse voice, difficulty breathing and increased heartburn and reflux. I have been treating the cold with otc cold medicine. Is this something that will eventually go away on it s own or is this more serious than I thought?

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. As you having green phlegm which is a sign of bacterial infection, you need antibiotic therapy. It might resolve but you can have complications like ear infection so it is not wise to wait. If you were my patient then I would suggest antibiotics like Co-amoxiclav and decongestants. I also suggest you to take vitamin C , warm fluids like tea with lemon and honey , warm chicken soup with pepper for fast healing. Steam inhalation is also good.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
