Hi,I am 5 week pregnant, during blood test my TSH level is 3.6 and free T3 2.74 and T4 1.25 doctor suggest me to take 12.5gm of thyronorm. If i doesnot take this medicine will it affect my babies brain development? pls do suggest what all food can I eat and also avoid at this case.
Hello madam,I understand your concern.in my opinion you have to definitely take the thyroid harmone supplementation.ur TSH is 3.6 usually the TSH should be < 2.5 in first trimester and < 3 in 2 nd and 3rd trimesters.if thyroid is not under control there may be chance of miscarriage and sometimes baby with low IQ.So dont worry start taking from now on without delay.and get thyroid testing done at required intervals as said by your doctor to know about the adjustment of dose.avoid cabbage and cauliflower in your diet and also cough syrups .relax hypothyroidism with pregnancy is routinely seen in practice and if thyroid is under control pregnancy continues normally without any complication.
