Hello,
For some reason or other you are addicted to an opiate drug Suboxone (8mg/day) for 4 to 5 years. As per your statement there was a problem which made you to take Subaxone. I presume that the reason/indication (may be genuine) for taking suboxone is not there for you today. You receive feedback from others about successful quitting from methadone / oxycontin, almost similar opiates
You feel that addiction is a disease as well it is not good for you. Now you are worried about the withdrawal symptoms. Just like alcohol addiction should not be stopped suddenly.
My advise to you is - if you have planned quit it, continue the same dosage of 8 mg for 2 weeks and reduce it to 4 mg for 4 weeks and by this time you must have acquired the courage to face the withdrawal symptoms if any and then stop it. It is possible for you.
If you plan and develop your will power I think you can reach the goal.
All my very best wishes
