I had a tubal ligation a little over a year ago after the birth of our daughter. A couple of weeks ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Is there any possibility they are related? I have never had problems in the past and my symptoms started after my tubal. I was tested in August and my numbers were normal, and now they are very high and I am on meds for it. Could the tubal have caused my thyroid issues?
Post partum thyroid dysfunction is a common entity and can vary from hypothyroidism to painless thyroiditis and graves disease and commonly occurs within 6 months if delivery. It is possible that you got it diagnosed later perhaps you did not have any symptoms.
