Yeast Infection Symptoms After Vigorous External Sexual Stimulation. No Improvement With OTC Treatment. Sugar High, Taking Amaryl, Metformin

I have had these symptoms for 3 weeks now. it started after having vigorous external sexual stimulation. after 3 days I tried a 3 day course of a otc yeast infection treatment. then when it did not improve I tried a betadine douche treatment 2x a day for 1 wk. I am diabetic and had not been serious with my diet and not checking my b.s. due to a lot of depression and a Not caring attitude. when I checked my b.s. 3 days ago it was 380. I have since increased my amaryl to 8mg a day and my b.s. lowered to 145 within 2 days. I have also eliminated most carbs for now to get it down. I also take 2000 mg of metformin. now that my sugar is down should I try a 7 day course of otc tx for yeast? or continue w/betadine douche?

Infectious Diseases Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

Yeast infection in diabetics takes a longer time to heal and there is high sugar levels which facilitates easy growth of fungi. If you are not responding to over the counter treatment then you need to get a vaginal swab tested for microscopy, culture and sensitivity. This test will confirm the infection and also guide your GP to prescribe appropriate medications.
Sugar levels have to be under control for any treatment to be effective in your case.
Please get the test done and get appropriate therapy.
Thanks.
