Experiencing Sweat After Quitting Smoking. Feeling Anxiety, Body Pain And Headaches. Is This Due To Quit Cycle?
After 35 years, my husband finally quit smoking this past April. He started with Chantix to help with the withdrawals but about 4 weeks into it they got really bad and he got some Wellbutrin. That seemed to take a little of the edge off but not all. He is still having a problem with breaking out into a sweat for no reason. He is in the retail busines so is around people all day and gets embarrassed when this happens because he is always having to wipe his face and his hair gets wet. He is afraid this part will never go away and if that is the case he will start smoking again. Any suggestions as to why this is still happening almost 3 months into his quit cycle? He did have some heavy duty physical withdrawals like shakes, body aches and pains, headaches and the anxiety . I appreciate any advice you can offer.
Symptoms of cessation after a long duration of smoking can be difficult to manage for the patient. Physical symptoms like sweating, constipation, headache, tingling sensation in hands and feet etc. and psychological symptoms like irritability, anxiety, depression etc. are quite common. They can last for many months in the patient. He could try out some deep breathing and relaxation techniques and find more time to relax. If it is severe then he may need to visit his psychiatrist for additional medications.
well this is very normal till few months after quiting smoking.. all these are withdrawl sympyoms of smoking... if your husband is finding trouble due to sweating then till few months you can use nicotine patch or nicotine chewgums.. dont worry it doesnt have any addiction liability... slowly dis continue this nicotine patch and yous husband will be fine.. the most important thing i want to twll you that dont let down his spirit.. all family member be supportive, encoragin and praise him for his desicion of quiting smoking.. if needed take motivational counselling sessions from psychiatrist ..
