Should I Be Worried As I Am Having Bruising And Swelling On My Eye After Hitting?
The wind blew my porch door on to me, and I hit my right temple on the inner wooden door. I didn't have any after effects, apart from a huge lump. I put frozen peas on it, and it went down quite a lot. However, 2 days later, I have bruising and swelling round my right eye, and it is half closed. there is also some bruising round my left eye. Is it anything to worry about? My husband thinks I should have it looked at, but I feel alright, and don't want to go anywhere on Christmas day.

It seems from the history that you are having bruising and swelling of the eye after a injury to the eye.
This is because of collection of blood in the layers of the skin of the eyelids as a result of injury. This is commonly seen in injuries to face above the level of the eye brow because of gravity along which the blood and fluids track down and accumulate in the loose tissues of the eye lids.
The treatment of the condition is by use of anti-inflammatory drugs and cold compression.
