Menstrual Cycle

I m a 46 year old woman with one child who is 9. I m having my menstrual cycle and the last 8 or so cycles have been much more painful, more heavy flow with more clots. Well, last night was my first heavy day of my cycle and I felt something larger than normal come out. I d been noticing larger clots coming out. Well I went into the bathroom to check it out and this thing was hanging, literally from the opening about 12 inches long. I pulled it out... it s kind of fibrous, like it has almost like small, elongated polyps hanging from it - these polyps are not fat just sort of oblong and thicker. I saved it and put it in a jar of water. Tonight when I looked at it you can see it definitely looks like it has fibers - almost tendon or vein-like looking... and kind of octopus looking. Weird. Should I be concerned? Help?
