Is Increased Thirst In A Child Indication Of Diabetes Or Side Effect Of Suprax Medicine?

Hi
for the last 2 wks my 2 yr old has been waking up almost every 1.5 hr overnight asking for something to drink. My concern is if this could be a sign of diabetes since diabetes runs on his fathers side or id this could be a side effect from his medication (suprax) which he has been taking for a sinus infection?

Hi,
Increased thirst is not a usual side-effect of Suprax. However, it can be the first symptom of diabetes. Although diabetes is not common, you should have your child checked. I suggest you go to your doctor or ED promptly where they can test urine and blood.
