4 Years Child Having Cold And Red, Itchy Marks On Foot And Hands. What Could Be Causing This?

Question: my son is 4yrs and 5 months and he has some cold and yesterday he had started red marks on foot sole and hand palms very itchy.he is unable to sleep we went to a birthday party to a park yesterday may be some insect bite him but if u answer it now it works tomorrow morning i will go to a doctor

Thanks for your query.

The itchy rashes specially in end organs like upper and lower limbs are typically seen in allergies due to insect bites or chemical irritants.

The other possibility like Viral infection can be considered if the child is presenting with cold and fever associated with the itchy rash.

Lesions due to both can be controlled temporarily using a anti histaminic medication like Syrup Benadryl given 3ml twice daily.This will also reduce the itching and provide relief.

If the lesions are not controlled by the syrup then it may be necessary for him to be taken to the HR.
