Question: Hello. I have girl friend and we had anal sex with condom but when i was about to remove the condom after sex it i saw a tear on( kind of on the trunk of the penis) it but i remove it so quicklyand put water to check, the was tip was not shred only the upper part of the condom. i know its safe if the tip is not exposed but is it possible that head came out from that shred part during inter course and am I risk to get infected. The partnet HIV status is unknown. Please advice
Thanks
I condom was still intact for sure- can the head comes out from the shred part( middle of the condom) during sex? or condom ring will protect the condom not to move? I didnt have much light in the bathroom but condom was intact but not sure if the head came out or not. When i put water in the condom there was no leak at the tip for sure

Brief Answer:
HIV risk

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns.

You had anal sex with a girl whom you don't know her HIV status. The condom did not rupture but you are concerned that it may have slipped out and back in? That is an unlikely scenario. If the condom would have slipped you would have known it as it would have come off completely. Since the condom was intact and it did not slip you have no risk for HIV.

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions

Thanks Doctor for the prompt reply. Sorry I didn't what do you mean ' didn't rupture' because it got teared off in the middle bit but tip of the condom didn't( i put water to check and water come out from the tear which was in the middle of the condom. so rapture is different then tear?. Yes, the condom didn't come off for sure, i removed it myself. Will you still say its no risk? so head cant come out from that tear during the act?

Also- I have this muscle ache/joint in the forth week after exposure( no fever, no rash) pain in the back of the throat in the third week because of hay fever i have but no sore throat, the pain which come and goes and not to sharp, not consistent, can this be ARS symptom? Do symptoms come all together? or one by one?

Question2:
what kind of muscle/joint pain you get with ars symptoms-? will be consistent on a part of the body or migratory?
Question 3:
Do you think I need HIV test after 3 month? i had before this exposure and it was negative.
Question4:
What are the chances of getting HIV with a single anal exposure with a unknown HIV status woman?

Brief Answer:
No risk for HIV

Detailed Answer:
The tear or rupture was not enough to cause transmission of HIV so you are not at risk. You may get an HIV test if you feel it is needed but not because of this instance. If you are having sex with numerous partners then you should get HIV testing. If you have unprotected anal sex or vaginal sex you can get HIV from only one expoosure that is why it is so important to use condoms when engaging in sex with someone you don't know their HIV status.

Brief Answer:
Clinical definition of condom failure

Detailed Answer:
What I think you are wanting to know what is a condom failure. This is when the condom breaks and the contents in the condom leak. It would also mean that the condom came off and was no longer encasing the penis. In your case I would not call what you had as a failure. The condom did rip but your penis was not exposed to a point where you could contract any disease nor could she get pregnant. I hope this better clarifies your question
