Brief Answer:
It does rise in alcohol consumption

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

You already have fatty liver and you took alcohol for 3 days and your tests show high levels of SGOT, SGPT and GGT. These levels rise in both liver disease and alcohol consumption. GGT especially is known to rise in alcohol consumption (whether recent or long term). Alcohol induced liver disease is also very common.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if you have more doubts.

Brief Answer:
10.5 cm is normal

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

If you had been drinking alcohol for a long time, then it affects the liver function. This raises SGOT, SGPT and GGT levels. Yes liver can become fatty because of obesity. But alcohol damages the liver and can cause fatty liver.

The normal size is males is <10.5 cm mid-clavicular line.
A size of more than 15.5 cm mid clavicular line is hepatomegaly.

Brief Answer:
Quit alcohol

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

The time taken to reverse alcohol liver disease depend on stage of liver disease and concomitant factors present. The alcoholic liver disease may be of three types: alcoholic fatty liver, alcoholic hepatitis, and cirrhosis. Cirrhosis is not reversible while other two are reversible. It usually reverses within a few months of complete sobriety.

You need to stay away from alcohol and any other medicine that may damage liver. Two groups that you may join are Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon. Once you have quit alcohol, stay away from it. Liver has a good capacity to regenerate.

There are no medicines available in allopathy to support the liver, but in ayurveda there are some medicines available. Syrup liv 52 taken twice a day can be helpful. But the best medicine is to stay away from alcohol and any hepatotoxic medicines. You also need to bring down your weight by avoiding fatty foods like cheese, butter, ghee, milk shakes, sweets, paneer, etc.

Hope it clears your doubt.
