Brief Answer:
Is there impulse on coughing or straining?

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Male/21 - umbilical hernia surgery on 13th XXXXXXX - sex after 3 days of surgery - scared that the stitches are ripped - posted a single picture -

Please give additional information:
- Put finger on the hernia site and try to cough or strain lightly. See whether there is similar bulging as was before surgery and that it goes back after the pressure is released.
- Is/was there any pain, increase in swelling or redness after sex?
- Please tell what was done during surgery- you may have the discharge card or information as what procedure was exactly done like simple closure with double breasting or mesh repair / laparascopic placement of the mesh.
- Post the picture before after after surgery if you have.
- When was the picture snapped which you have posted?

If there is an impulse on coughing, that there is increase in swelling which is reducible, then only we can say that the the stitches are ripped and there is recurrence.

I hope this answer helps you to decide, please feel free to give the feedback and ask relevant further queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.

Brief Answer:
Take proper care not to strain and let the results be seen after 10 days.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback, I have read it carefully.
Since there is no bulge on pushing the possibility of recurrence is least.
The pain and discomfort has been going away.
The swollen piece can he a resolving hematoma or seroma which occurs as a result of surgery and/or the strains during sex.
If there is no bulge on straining or coughing or increasing intra-abdominal pressure, the bulge may not be a hernia.
Since it is 10 days post-operative, let us give time for proper healing, take rest, do not do any such activities that can put a strain on the abdominal wall and hernia repair for at least 10 more days, have review with the surgeon when called for.
Take proper care now so that the healing is proper.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
