Question : are there benifits to a type 2 diabetic using a insulin pump? it seems from reading new articles Dr's are starting to see benifits from a type 2 with a pump. I currently am a type 2, with poor control ( IMO due to constant spikes and drops ), I do manage carbs well but still have big spikes n drops, I do over react on drops. only short time I got a1c at 7 was a period I gave myself 5 shots a day, but that just makes me too sore.

Yes there are benefits, it can avoid going into DKA.

Welcome back to HCM: Please note that the benefits include convenience, avoiding going into DKA, and you can also be rest assured that you carb count and have this in your pump providing better XXXXXXX and re-assurance.

This would have to be prescribed by and endocrinologist though, and many insurance companies don't pay for it yet. You will need to "prove" that you have failed oral medication and insulin shots. You will thus have to keep a very keen diary about what your blood sugars are doing to obviously assess if you benefit from an insulin pump.
