Will Epilepsy Symptoms Due To Side Effect Of Medicine For Blood Sugar?
sir , my wife is 20 year old and now she is pregnant(32 weeks) ,she failed in GTT and takes 4 unit huminsulin twice a day from last 4 weeks regularly , she get betnesol injection and blood sugar level changed and take more dose of insulin, the same day she looks like a epilepsy patient ,is it the side effect of medicines?
Betnesol injection contains betamethasone that is used in the treatment of various inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, psoriasis, SLE and many more. On the other hand, insulin is used in the treatment of diabetes mellitus and its associated complications. But, Betnesol injection may cause epilepsy or seizure as a rare side effect. It also can cause raised blood sugar levels. Again, sudden lowering of the blood sugar by excess insulin administration, may develop epilepsy or seizure in any person. Low blood sugar or high blood sugar may affect the excitability of neurons, promoting epilepsy or seizures to take place more easily.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
