Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking A Contraceptive Pill?

Question: My last period was on 19 th november and had an intercourse on nov 30. I took i pill within 5 hours and felt headache, lower abdominal cramp for 2 days and after one week tenderness in breast. Is there any chance of pregnancy and when will be my next periods.

I have read through your query and I can certainly understand your concern.

From the description that you have provided, your LMP was on 19th November, and you has sexual intercourse on 30th November, which is in your ovulation phase, meaning there is a possibility that you could be pregnant.

I pill if taken within 72 hours is highly effective in contraception, though there is a 5% failure rate. If taken within a time span of 5 hours, chances to get pregnant is very low.

The symptoms that you are experiencing could also result due to the side effects of i-pill as it alters the hormone levels thereby causing cramps, breast tenderness, menstrual irregularities.
It is difficult to predict your next cycle as this may result in irregular menstrual cycles.

For now, I would suggest you to do the following:
- do not panic, as increased stress may also result in irregular menstrual cycles.
- wait for your next cycle and if not come in one week's time do a urine pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy.
- eat lots of fruits and vegetables
