Brief Answer:
Yes they are related to each other.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your interesting question.

Yes! There is some recent research which indicates that the person who has low vitamin -D level have more chances of type2 diabetes in the later half of their life.

It is also assured that in recently diagnosed patients with Type2 diabetes has low vitamin -D level in their blood.

But in prediabetic patient the chances of getting type 2 diabetes are not diminished by increasing their vitamin-D intake.

Research indicates that the vitamin-D helps in decreasing some symptoms in type2 diabetes by its effect on the increase production of insulin by beta cell of the pancreas, increase insulin sensitivity and decrease its resistance.

Its function in diabetes may be because of its effect on calcium.

Thus in recent research results, they give Vitamin -D in type2 diabetic patient to decrease some symptoms and they advise to maintain a higher level of vitamin -D in the early phase of life so the chances of type2 diabetes or decrease in the later half of their life.

Hope I have answered your query if you have further questions I will be happy to assist you.

Good luck.
Regards
Dr.Richa
