Question : I am a 26 years old guy. I have my tongue tied (Ankyloglossia). Somehow it was not detected in the childhood. But now i feel quite embarrassed because of the pronunciation and speech disorder because of tongue tied. Is it curable through surgery at the age of 26? Is their any other way out to improve my speech disorder?

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. At the age of 26, a tongue tie release is a very simple procedure.

2. If you can protrude the tip of your tongue beyond the front incisor teeth, a tongue tie release may not be necessary.

3. Speech therapy will definitely help, along with the tongue tie release, if necessary.
